Employees may be granted disability for work-related stress, depression, trauma, or PTSD in other cases — but receiving these benefits often depends on whether or not employees can prove that work or events at work directly caused their condition. It can be extremely difficult to prove the exact reasons behind depression, and it may boil down to having quality workers comp lawyers and/or a judge’s opinion. If you are ineligible for workers compensation for depression, keep in mind that more employers are offering health insurance plans that cover talk therapy and antidepressants.

Workers compensation and job lawsuits are meant to help Americans bring in a stable income during life’s most difficult times — such as when suffering from a debilitating injury. But does that extend to depression, stress, or trauma? The answer to that question is often highly circumstantial.
